Diamonds, the new album by The Birthday Massacre, contains an exploration of darkness as well as light, poison as well as its antidote. Within the songwriting, one can sense the passing of time, and the conflicts and resolutions that we can all feel. Nights end, and days resolve. If we look inside, we can find these precious emotions and conflicts. Every single one of them is valuable. Like the diamonds in the dark. And thus, we have "Diamonds" by the Birthday Massacre. The distinctive soaring synths and guitars, paired with our Chibi's beautiful familiar and reassuring voice, guides us all into the darkness as well as out to the light - guides us to mourn and to look inside, but also take our hand and invite us to dance, and remember - the night is short. It weighs heavy, but the light always awaits us.

Metropolis Records is proud to present Superstition, the new album from The Birthday Massacre. The album is everything that you would expect of The Birthday Massacre, and so much more. As the band gets further along on its artistic journey, they are putting a fine point on all of the unique qualities that we have all come to expect from The Birthday Massacre. The band has progressed and matured, developing its musical style into a finely honed signature sound. Superstition is elements of band’s entire career up until this point, from the sounds of Nothing and Nowhere, Violet, all the way through to Hide and Seek fully realized. The album feels cinematic in approach, with the first trio of songs, Divide, Diaries, and the title track seeming to set the thematic scene before Destroyer, with it’s driving rhythms burns it all down. In the wake of all of this, Surrender gives the listener a brief moment of quiet, just breaths in the silence, before launching into perhaps one of the album’s most personal sounding, intimate tracks. Chibi’s vocals have always been an instrument integral to the sound of The Birthday Massacre, but never has it been more apparent than in Surrender. As she seems to invite you further into their world the bouncing, uptempo, Oceania and the dramatic Rain highlight all the elements of what make The Birthday Massacre such a unique band. Rainbow and Falcore’s songwriting are in top form, as the duo uses the band’s signature elements to masterfully create emotional gravity within the songs. This is especially evident in Beyond, as the heavy guitar work and solos interplay with the lighter atmospherics of the keyboards and electronic elements, as well as in The Other Side, as the bass guitar and crunching drop-tuned guitars shine. All in all, Superstition is the finest album The Birthday Massacre has recorded to date.

With every new album from The Birthday Massacre, we see a band that has created not only its own distinct niche in the musical landscape, but also seems to have created its own world. This time, we play Hide and Seek in that world. The new album from The Birthday Massacre opens with rain, and ends with the sounds of waves; in between we are given songs of lost girls, lost love, lost time. The delicate interplay between Chibi’s vocals and the ambiance created by Rainbow, M. Falcore, Rhim, Owen & Nate is on full display. Dark new wave hooks and haunting synths turn sinister as Rainbow and Falcore’s guitars lead Hide and Seek into ever darker, ever more beautiful corners of The Birthday Massacre’s world.

With their newest album, “Walking With Strangers” Toronto-Based The Birthday Massacre once again exceed the expectations of their ever-growing and devoted fan base. Co-produced by Rainbow, Falcore, and the legendary Dave "Rave" Ogilvie (who also mixed the album), TBM remain true to the sound that gained them the praise of fans and music critics alike, while further refining and expanding upon their signature sound. Guitarists M. Falcore and Rainbow (who also handle the electronics programming) effortlessly transition between the aggressive breakdowns on “Red Stars” to the dance-rock influenced “Science”. Vocalist Chibi shows more range and maturity with her stunningly beautiful vocals, from the delicate “Remember Me”, the powerful “Goodnight”, to the haunting and atmospheric “Movie”. Rainbow's synth programming adds an unmistakable atmosphere to the entire album, and standout rhythm hooks make this album instantly addictive. Once again The Birthday Massacre manage to blend gothic, rock and electronic music into a sound that is all their own, and brilliantly original.
